OBSESSIVE-COMPULIVE DISORDER (OCD)

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a chronic, long-lasting neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by a cyclical loop of uncontrollable, recurring thoughts or urges (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) that a person feels driven to perform. While OCD can be torturous, it is highly treatable using such evidence-based treatments as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy and Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT).

I-CBT is an evidence-based treatment for OCD that focuses on how obsessional doubt is created. It helps you recognize when OCD has pulls you away from what you know through your senses and into imagined possibilities, allowing you to trust your own judgment again.

ERP is an evidence-based treatment for OCD that helps you gradually face feared thoughts, situations, and uncertainty without relying on compulsions for relief. Over time, ERP helps you learn that you can tolerate discomfort and uncertainty without letting OCD dictate your choices.
